How to go about a complete life makeover from finances to closet.. .?

I’m not happy at the job I’m at even though I work for Walgreen’s IT dept and it has great benefits. I can’t stand it because the 1.5 hour drive going and coming. Plus the long hours and they’re uber strict. My passion is to become a high school guidance counselor. I want to make over my finances so that I can own my home in the next couple years. I want to get the hell out of Illinois and move to a warmer climate. I want to do physical make over such getting rid of my adult acne, straightening and whitening my teeth, loosing 20lbs (I’m 5′1 145lbs), and get lasik eye so I never ever have to wear these gotdamn glasses anymore. I just don’t know where to start.

Just start one step at a time. Save up for awhile, and start applying for jobs in whatever state you wanna move to. ( I personally recommend California cause that’s where i grew up) Go for a walk every day and buy some of those teeth whitening strips. You can get where you want to be!

why did I get charged a finance charge of 375 dollars?

I got a loan from Care Credit a while back to get lasik. My balace all together was about 1,600. My statement from last month said my balance was 1,137 dollars. Now my statement this m onth is 1,477 dollars. It said my finance charge was 375 dollars. I am going to call them but they are closed right now. So can someone explain how I could get his high finance charge?
I paid on time every month, sometimes the minimum amount sometimes a little more then that.
I am new with getting loans so I don’t know much but that makes a lot of sense . Thank you!

My GUESS is this was an ‘X days same as cash" deal. The fine print stated if you had not paid the FULL amount in X days, you would be charged a ridiculous interest rate from say one. The minimum payment is about half of what you need to pay the full balance in X days. The 375 includes interest you would have been charged for the FULL term you have been paying.

The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem at Evanston & Glenbrook Hospitals thanks you for your support of The 2009 Hospitals’ Gala.

We were joined by more than 750 corporate sponsors and community leaders at The Fairmont Chicago on Saturday, June 20. The evening kicked off with Cabaret Cocktails in the International Ballroom as guests bid on tempting silent auction items, including autographed sports memorabilia, vacation getaways and even a LASIK eye procedure! As guests enjoyed their meals they were treated to lively swing, jitterbug, twist and disco dance routines. A revival of last years popular heads and tails game and a live auction with such luxuries as a race car experience, an autographed history of rock album and a trip to New York to see Saturday Night Live brought guests to their feet.

Proceeds from the Hospitals Gala will establish a Guided Patient Support (GPS) Program at NorthShores Kellogg Cancer Care Center. The GPS Program will provide patients facing cancer diagnosis with access to the assistance they need through a personal advocate dedicated to their total care. Patients will have a personal guide with special training to help them through difficult decisions, accompany them to treatments, coordinate financial counseling and make arrangements for emotional assistance to learn coping strategies and stress management.

Lasik eye surgery??

I’m REALLY thinking about getting Lasik. I have an appt. for March 26 for a consultation. All together it would end up costing 3400, which I would finance 24 months interest free at about 140 dollars a month. I’m 21, I have a 4 month old who is almost to the point where hes riping my glasses off, I cant wear contacts they drive me crazy! I’ve worn glasses for 6 years and I’m over them! I want to lay in bed without my glasses…..do you think its a good idea? Has anyone gotten lasik and theyre vision change and have to go back to glasses? My dr. said they have corrected the surgery and its now permanant but how would I know???

i think you should do it! my husband has wanted lasik for years and we couldn’t afford it, so i’ve been saving up and i’m going to pay for him to get lasik as his graduation present from medical school. i think it’s an opportunity that anyone should take who is able. you can’t put a price on your eyesight, as cliche as it sounds- it’s true. won’t it be great to see your 4 month old without having to look at him through lenses? lucky you! congratulations =)

LASIK Eye surgery…. can I get it although I’ve never worn glasses?

(Or contact lenses?) I know I’ll have to have my eyesight evaluated to see if I’m a good candidate. I feel that my eyesight has deteriorated quiclky over last couple of years; and I’m only 22. I have no health insurance, so I havent had an eye exam in a while. I’m seeing more and more poorly as time goes on & I’ve thought of financing the cost of LASIK or just saving up. I’m just not sure if they perform LASIK on people who’ve never had eyeglasses/ contact lenses prescribed to them. Do you know? What are my options? Any advice?

The only potential problem I see may be that since you haven’t been wearing contacts or glasses, your vision prescription probably keeps changing. You definitely cannot get LASIK if your vision isn’t stabilized. They will not do it ever. I would recommend going to a LASIK Plus location. They are very good there and will do a free appointment to determine if you are good candidate for it. I would definitely recommend doing that. You have nothing to lose and no money to lose on the free appointment.
